Brandy K. Cruthird is the founder and owner of Body By Brandy Fitness Studio in Boston, Massachusetts. Her studio offers programming, personal training, nutrition counseling, cardiovascular and strength training. Brandy is a certified personal trainer and fitness professional with over 10 years experience in the fitness industry. While playing Division 1 Basketball for James Madison University in Virginia she earned Rookie of the Year, leading her team in rebounding. After earning a B.S. in communication and Public Relations she became a marketing representative for Reebok International, Ltd. She founded Body By Brandy Fitness Inc, in 1996 which remains one of a handful of Black women-owned gyms in the country. Brandy has been featured in Essence Magazine, the Boston Globe and Heart & Soul Magazine. She has also amassed numerous awards for her leadership including a 1998 Roxbury Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Achievement Award”. The Girl Scouts’ 2001 “Leading Women Award,” the 2002 Harvard School of Public Health “Rebecca Lee Award,” and Body By Brandy Fitness Center was voted “The Best of the New 2005” by the Boston Globe, and received the Boston Business Journal Top 40 under 40 “Up & Coming Award”. Brandy was also Voted Dudley “Business of the Year” 2006 by Main Streets. Ford Motors also recognized her accomplishments as a pioneer with the 2006 Fusion “Life In Drive Award”. In addition Brandy was the recipient of the Boston Center for Community and Justice “Voices of Inclusion-Innovator Award” in 2006, as well as a Massachusetts State Lottery “Friends of the Fairway Award”, for positive contributions to her community through golf and sport. Amidst these extraordinary accomplishments to date Brandy was most notably featured on NBC Nightly News “MAKING A DIFFERENCE” for creating the First Kids Gym in the country that accepts prescriptions from participating health care providers for obese kids enabling them to workout at BBB Fit Kidz for FREE!
